Mehndi, or the application of paste of the henna plant, is a beautiful and safe art. Henna has been used to adorn young women’s bodies as part of social and holiday celebrations since the late Bronze Age in the eastern Mediterranean.
These days, henna is used by people of all ethnicities, religions, and cultures, to beautify the skin and celebrate life. It is especially popular for pregnancy & weddings and is a great way to bond with guests at your next party.
I mix my own paste using organic henna leaf, lemon juice, and lavender essential oil (although I can tailor these ingredients to your needs.) The henna is then applied free-hand onto your skin in a method very similar to cake-decorating.
Henna paste sits on top of the skin for a few hours and then the resulting stain may last anywhere from a few days to two weeks, depending on location and care.
